    she uttered to her
    roots as they
    sprouted a prodigious
    tree.

Bloom
    went the flowers
    before emitting new
    harvest.

A plume
    of young lemons.

So they grew
    widening piths
    taut fibres
    sour blood.

Pluck
Peel
squeeze
    their destiny.

Cross-sectioned
    the citrus can
    see its worth
    of cleansing flavour

    a lick is tart
    upon a wound is fire

Inspire
    it has
    it does
    with austere
    outlooks and
    firm acidity

Bathe us in your
tough-love brine

We can only hope
    for the honour

the zeal
of a lemon

The beauty and effort the 'concentration' prelude to the offspring of fruit - Zesty Lemon.
Personally I love lemons, I bite straight into the segments and suck all the juice - love the sour and happy to devour :)
This one goes in to my fav's.

Thank you so dearly for the lovely comment, I really appreciate your kindness and attentiveness.
That's awesome! I too love lemons, and would absolutely bite into a wedge too, though you sound more hardcore than me :)

Aawww!!! :iconloveloveplz: It is described with such poetic precision, that it made me think of lemons in a different way than just their taste!!! You actually made me think of the sweet aroma of the lemon tree flowers :iconloveloveplz: It's like you engage many senses with your poetry, my dear, and I thank you for that!!! :iconaawplz:

Sleepy me mis-read the title as Zen of a Lemon.  I'll let you deal with that...

This is pretty cool.

Are lemons self-pollinating?  Should there be bees?

Wow, I love that title! It's very nice, thanks for sharing it :)
I don't know/think lemons are self-pollinating. So, you bring up a great point, but it didn't worry me for this poem, I was basically gushing about them in general XD
Thank you so much!

Ahh! I love it! "Sour blood", "a lick is tart/ upon a wound is fire", "austere outlooks and firm acidity", "bathe us in your/ tough-love brine." You make lemons sound so godlike! Your word choices blow me away once again! Love
I really love this one! What gave you the random lemony inspiration for this?

Ahh, thank you so very much! Imagine godlike lemons how funny; you're making me smile :D
I wrote this a while ago, but I think I was just thinking about in the evening, and I wanted to be obnoxious and insightful with them. Then I found it humourous that peel rhymes with zeal.
Then I was like gosh darn it I'm gonna do it aren't I.
And I did.
And I laughed at myself afterwards!

Aww. I'm glad you did it. The poem is so a-peal-ing to the senses.
  ....
Don't worry, I know that was a bad joke. I'll just leave now...
